Jon Leatherman is currently in his second year in the Nova Southeastern Athletics Department, having joined the Shark Family in August 2021 as the Athletic Communications Coordinator. After one year, Leatherman was promoted to the Manager of Athletic Communications for the NSU Department of Athletics.
Leatherman is the primary contact for the Sharks Volleyball, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's Basketball, Women's Tennis and Baseball programs.
Leatherman joins NSU after nearly three years working as the Manager of Athletic Communications at STU, where he oversaw 25-varsity teams. While at St. Thomas, Leatherman was responsible for live statistics, press releases, recap stories, nomination for athletic/academic awards, coordinating media, and also managing a staff of work study students. Additionally, STU added seven athletic programs to the department during Leatherman's tenure, which includes, Football, Men's Wrestling, Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving, Women's Flag Football, Women's Bowling and Women's Golf.
In addition to his role at NSU, Leatherman is also a member of College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA, and has been a member since 2018.
Leatherman was named the 2019-20 Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, and has previously worked with the Miami Marlins and Major League Baseball. He received two degrees from St. Thomas University, earning his Bachelors of Business Administration in Sports Administration (2017), and his Masters of Science in Sports Administration (2018).
