SSC Men's Release | SSC Women's Release
WINTER PARK, Fla. – Erin Black (Jr., Fort Myers, Fla.), a member of the Nova Southeastern women’s swimming and diving team has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Year, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. A total of seven women and six men were selected to All-SSC teams.
 
Black won the Division-II national championship in the 500-yard freestyle. She claimed the title with a personal best and school-record time of 4:49.86. Black had also taken the gold in the 500- free at the SSC Championship, posting a meet-record time of 4:51.11. 
She additionally collected All-America honors by finishing fourth in the 1,000- free and third in the 1,650- free. She garnered honorable mention All-America accolades with a ninth-place finish in the 200- free. Black also contributed to an All-American performance by the NSU 800- free relay team that finished sixth at the D-II national meet.
 
The Sharks tied with Tampa with a conference-best seven women’s swimmers selected to All-SSC teams. Joining Black on the women’s All-SSC First-Team was 
Ewa Jamborska (Sr., Katowice, Poland) and 
Ashley Bransford (So., Santa Cruz, Aruba).
 
Jamborska had a strong showing at the SSC Championship meet back in February, taking second in the 200- and 1000-yard breaststroke events, third in the 400-yard IM as an individual, while finishing second and third in the 400- and 200-yard medley relays, respectively. She was also selected to three honorable mention All-America teams at the national championships in the 100- and 200- breast and as a member of the 400- medley relay team.
 
Bransford also performed well on the conference stage, winning the 100- breast in a time of 1:04.46, while also finishing third in the 200- breast and fifth in the 200- IM. Bransford garnered All-America recognition at the national championships in the 800- free relay and honorable mention in the 400-free medley relay.
 
The Sharks had four NSU swimmers selected to the women’s All-SSC Second-Team: 
Lauren Chapple (London, England), 
Ashley Aranda (Kenner, La.), 
Emma Lawrenz (Fr., Minnetonka, Minn.) and 
Kelsea Smith (Jr., Edina, Fla.).
 
On the men’s side, the Sharks and Florida Southern each placed a conference-best six swimmers on All-SSC teams. NSU had the most first-team selections of any school, as four student-athletes garnered All-SSC First-Team accolades: 
Oskar Nordstrand (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden), 
Armin Hornikel (Sr., Goose, Creek, S.C.), 
Jonas Grundstrom (Sr., Fagersta, Sweden) and 
Oscar Aldabe (So., Alicante, Spain).
 
Nordstrand won two individual events at the SSC Championship meet, the 500- free and the 1,000- free, while picking up four second-place finishes in the 200- and 1,650- free and the 400- and 800- free relays. At the national championships, Nordstrand tallied five All-America honors.
 
Hornikel tallied three All-America honors and four honorable mention nods at the national meet. At the SSC Championships, he set a new conference record in the 200- IM with a time of 1:48.52, while also winning the 200- breast. Hornikel was also victorious as a member of the 200- free relay squad. He picked up a pair of second-place finishes as a member of the 400- free and 400- medley relays teams and a third-place mark with the 200- medley relay team.
 
Grundstrom returned from the national championships with two All-America honors and three honorable mentions. At the SSC Championship meet, he captured second in three individual events and one relay: the 1,000- and 1,650- free, the 400- IM and the 800- free relay.
 
Aldabe, an honorable mention All-America selection in the 400- IM at nationals, set a new SSC record of 3:54.39 in the event at the SSC Championships. Aldabe also finished third in the 200- breast and fourth in the 200- IM at the conference meet.
 
Addison Cates (Fr., Port Charlotte, Fla.) and 
Cameron Chambers (Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.) rounded out the NSU selections with All-SSC Second-Team recognition.
