FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University rowing team had five student-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athletes, as announced Tuesday.
In order to be named a CRCA Scholar Athlete, students must: meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution; be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility; have rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring; have a head coach as a member and in good standing with the CRCA; and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for her career.
Kelsey Obringer (Jr., Port Republic, N.J.), last year's NCAA Elite 89 winner, leads the list with a 3.93 GPA in her political science program. Obringer is followed by All-American
Stephanie Hauck (Sr., Somers Point, N.J.), who holds a 3.74 GPA as an exercise and sports science major.
Coxswain
Amanda Hudon (So., Sebastian, Fla.) earned the honor with a 3.67 GPA as an education major. Also making the list was
Tori Torrisi (So., Saratoga, N.Y.), who is majoring in athletic training and holds a 3.66 GPA. Wrapping up the Sharks' five honorees is
Adrianna Rosario (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.), who holds a 3.55 GPA in the legal studies program.
The Sharks will finish their season at the NCAA National Championship in Indianapolis, beginning on May 30.
