Smith impressed during NSU men's basketball's opening week of the season, as the second-ranked Sharks rolled to a pair of decisive wins over both Staten Island and Trevecca Nazarene. The junior posted averages of 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals, all while playing just 24.0 minutes per contest. Smith also shot 68 percent (17-25) from the field, including 8-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Pittsburgh native recorded his first double-double of the season last Wednesday, finishing with 17 points and 10 boards to go along with a team-high four steals in a game in which the Sharks forced a whopping 30 turnovers. This past Saturday, he then poured in a career-high 27 points, while finishing once again with the team-high in steals (3). NSU is one of four remaining unbeatens in the Sunshine State Conference.
