Lauren Saigh picked up her first SSC Player of the Week award after leading the Sharks’ defense to their fourth shutout of the year over Tampa last Friday, Oct. 8. Saigh and the defensive line made it an easy night for goalkeeper Chrissy Hy as the Spartans were held to only three shots, none of which were on goal.

It was the first time since Oct. 24, 2007 that the Sharks held a Sunshine State Conference opponent to zero shots on goal. The Sharks needed Saigh and the defensive line to come through as the game’s only goal came on a penalty kick. The win gave NSU sole possession of first place in the SSC.
