The NSU men’s basketball team has won six straight games and Alex Gynes’ superior play has been a big reason why. In two SSC wins, Gynes averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and over two steals a game. He also shot 47.6 percent from the floor and, 50 percent from three-point range and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. With his team shooting poorly against Florida Tech, Gynes consistently reached the foul line where he made all of his attempts. He pulled down 13 rebounds against the likes of Justin Sedlak and Derek Hellemann, the most he’s had in conference play this year. Against Saint Leo, Gynes shot 60 percent from the floor and went 2-for-2 from downtown. He dished out four assists and picked up a career-high five steals.
