Merritt continues to be NSU's lead defensive stopper, in two more Shark wins over the last week. She had four steals and four blocked shots total against PBA and Rollins, while pulling down five rebounds in each game. The Sharks forced 28 turnovers, combining in the two games to have a 44-19 points-off-turnover advantage, and gave up just over 60 points per game in those two victories.
Merritt was the lead distributor as well as key scorer in both of the Sharks' wins last week. Against PBA, she made all three of her shots and added a career-best 11 assists in a 14-point victory. Then, she helped the Sharks pull away from Rollins with 6-of-6 free throws in the final minute-plus, towards a 19-point, eight-assist showing against the Tars. For the week, she averaged 9.5 assists against just 2.0 turnovers per game, along with 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocked shots.
Merritt and the Sharks will be back in action on Dec. 19th, hosting Miles in the Shark Holiday Classic. The game is scheduled to begin a 2:00 p.m.
