For the fifth straight week, the Nova Southeastern University Varsity 8 was the strongest Sunshine State Conference boat on the water, this time logging an impressive showing at the SIRA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn to claim SSC Boat of the Week honors.

The Sharks’ 8 placed first in two heats on the first day of the SIRA Championships to punch a ticket to the V8 grand final where it finished second of six boats with a time of 6:46.10, which notched their season’s third fastest time and one of their best showings at the SIRA Championships.

Manning the NSU boat were coxswain Elizabeth Tortorici (Winter Park, Fla.), Alyssa O'Donnell (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), Lauren Boudreau (Waterford, N.Y.), Catherine Plesko (Brandon, Fla.), Abigail Schiavo (Northfield, N.J.), Taylor Van Horn (Cape Coral, Fla.), Claire Kurlychek (Land O'Lakes, Fla.), Jessica Sutter (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Mallorie Reinecke (Buffalo, N.Y.).
