NSU Sharks Volleyball Defeats Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras For Fourth Win in Five Matches

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (October 19, 2006) - The Nova Southeastern University Sharks disposed of the University of Puerto-Rico Rio Piedras in four games to win their tenth match of the season. NSU won by the scores of 26-30, 30-23, 30-23, 30-25 With the victory NSU is now 10-15.

Freshman Middle blocker Kaitlyn McNeil (Wichita, Kansas) posted a career high 11 blocks and also registered nine kills to lead the Sharks. Seniors Karla Ortiz (Miami, Fla.) and Megan Johansen (Arlington, Neb.) each recorded double-doubles on the evening. Ortiz had 10 kills and 13 digs while Johansen had 49 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Melinda Gorman (Sarasota, Fla.) contributed with a double-double of her own posting a match high 20 kills and 17 digs.

For the match NSU hit .240 as a team and registered 14 team blocks.

NSU travels to play Eckerd College on Saturday, October 21st at 4 p.m. and the University of Tampa on Sunday, October 22nd at 2 p.m.
