NSU Women's Soccer Settles For 2-2 Draw With Florida Tech

Diershow salvages a key regional point for the Sharks

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (October 21, 2006) - Kelly Diershow (Fr., Schaumburg, Ill.) scored the game-tying goal for Nova Southeastern (10-2-2, 4-2-2) as the Sharks had to settle for a 2-2 draw with the Florida Tech Panthers (7-4-5, 2-3-4) on Saturday night.

The Panthers' Therese Svensson opened the scoring in the first 30 seconds of the match after receiving well-played ball from Teresa Brantley. Ericka Hildreth registered the secondary assist on the goal.

With NSU trailing at home for the first time this season, Shurell Burton (So., Palm Bay, Fla.) converted a penalty kick, for her 15th goal of the season, in the 23rd minute to knot the score at one goal apiece.

Brantley answered five minutes later, scoring on her own penalty kick following a hard foul by Sharks' goalkeeper Megan Kim (Fr., Valrico, Fla.).

Diershow finally broke through for the Sharks, scoring in the 60th minute to tie the game for good.

Kim and Tech 'keeper Melissa Pyles made four saves each.

NSU will now move on to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament and will receive word on Monday night as to whom they will host at the NSU Soccer Complex on Tuesday.
