#19 NSU Women's Soccer Defeats Florida Tech, 2-0

Burton Scores Game-WInner; Panthers Held Without a Shot on Goal

Melbourne, Fla. (October 24, 2007) - Shurell Burton (Jr., Palm Bay, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal and the Sharks defense held Florida Tech to zero shots on goal as Nova Southeastern (10-2-1, 5-1-1 SSC) defeated the Panthers (9-5-1, 2-4-1) by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Rick Stottler Field.

In the 25th minute, Burton put the Sharks' up 1-0 when she took a pass from Stephanie Quinones (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and slotted it past Tech goalkeeper Melissa Pyles for her seventh goal of the year.

The Sharks would be given a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute when a Natalie Bellini (Jr., Tamarac, Fla.) corner kick deflected off a Panthers defender and found the back of the net.

NSU goalkeeper Sarah Glass (So., Melbourne, Fla.) would need little support from her offense as her defenders held Florida Tech to 13 shots but none on goal. Pyles made seven saves for the Panthers in a losing effort.

Fouls were 11-7 in favor of NSU while the Panthers had seven corner kicks to the Sharks' four.

NSU will return to action on Saturday, October 27 as they host the Florida Southern Moccasins at 7pm at the NSU Soccer Complex. Before the game, the Sharks will recognize the careers of their four seniors, Jennifer Turner, Jahmila Williams, Vanessa Booth, and Kristine Knoll.
