Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – The inaugural men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will open their first official swim meet at the NSU Aquatics Complex on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 pm hosting Florida Southern in a Sunshine State Conference match-up.
Saturday’s meet will be the first of six home meets this season for the Sharks swimming and diving programs and the first SSC meet this year. In addition to hosting FSC on Saturday, the Sharks will host Florida Atlantic on Oct. 29, Rollins on Nov. 6, Carleton on Dec. 13, the NSU Shark Invitational Dec. 16-19, and Saint Leo on Jan. 22.
The Sharks come into Saturday’s meet with a pair of competitions already under their belt. NSU began the season in Gainesville at the three-day All-Florida Invitational where the men finished fourth out of six teams and the women finished seventh. Last weekend, NSU also faced Florida State in a late addition losing 140-53 on the women’s side and 133-69 on the men’s
Florida Southern also comes into Saturday’s meet after two previous competitions. The Mocs were one of the participants NSU faced at the All-Florida Invitational where the men edged FSC in the final team standings and the Mocs’ women came out just in front of NSU’s women. Last weekend, FSC faced Tampa in their first Sunshine State Conference meet of the season with both teams falling to the Spartans.
The meet will feature a combination of 20-28 different events from the 50-yard freestyle to multiple relays for both the men’s and women’s teams.
