Men’s Basketball Drops School-Record 120 Points in Win Against Johnson & Wales

Sharks shoot a blistering 67% from the field, setting a program record

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team scored a school-record 120 points Monday night in a 120-66 win against Johnson & Wales at the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center.

The Sharks (2-0) broke the school’s scoring record that has stood pat for over 18 years. The Sharks also blew away their field goal percentage record as they shot 67% from the floor. The Sharks drained 42 of 63 shots and scored on 62% of their three-point attempts.

Three Sharks set career-highs against the Wildcats (1-3). Max Papendieck(Sr., Adelaide, Australia) nearly doubled his career-high by leading the Sharks with 23 points. Papendieck shot 6-for-8 from the field and nailed a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc. Along with Robert Huntington (Jr., Perth, Australia), Papendieck brought down a game-high eight rebounds, breaking his career-high.

Ross Allsop (Sr., Sydney, Australia) shot 9-for-11 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 in the second half while setting a career-high 19 points. In his first appearance this season, John Daly (So., Plantation, Fla.) tripled his career-high with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting.

The Sharks did not get out to the fastest start as they trailed 10-8 just four minutes into the contest. The Sharks broke out on a 16-4 run over the next four minutes and took a lead they would never give up. After the Wildcats quickly cut their deficit to five, NSU finished the last 10 minutes of the half by outscoring JWU, 34-18. Huntington was the leading scorer at the break as he scored all 12 of his points in the first half.

The Sharks kicked off the second half on a 15-4 run, increasing their lead to 29 points. It would only get worse as the Sharks outscored the Wildcats, 64-28 in the second half. John Brooks (Sr., Perris, Calif.) scored 12 of his 16 points in second half. He would finish with five three-pointers made on the night.

Teddy Tassy (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla.) and Cody Dennison (So., Newark, Ohio) each contributed a game-high five assists while Lemar Dyer (Sr., Miami, Fla.) collected three steals.

The Sharks will begin Sunshine State Conference play this Wednesday, Nov. 17 on the road against Rollins at 7:30 p.m.
