ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday night on the road by beating Flagler, 76-66. The Sharks (4-4) won the three-game series over the last two seasons, 2-1.

Robert Huntington (Jr., Perth, Australia) led the way with a team-high 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting and 4-for-6 from the free throw line. Ross Allsop (Sr., Sydney, Australia) corralled a season-high nine rebounds while Lemar Dyer (Sr., Miami, Fla.) led the team in assists with four.

The first half started slow but the Sharks eventually took over. They only made one field goal over the first five minutes but went on a 24-9 run after the first media timeout. Flagler would make a run that reduced the deficit to two points but the Sharks never gave up their lead in the first half. They would enter the break with a 39-29 lead.

Huntington and Alex Gynes (Sr., Nowra, Australia) both scored a team-high nine points in the first half on a combined 5-for-10 shooting. Allsop pulled down five boards and blocked his 95th career shot. The Sharks shot 46.9 percent in the opening frame.

The Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and climbed back into the game. They retook their early first half lead on a three-pointer from Ryan Barnes at the 10:30 mark. The Sharks immediately regained the lead and went on a 19-9 run. They took back a double-digit lead with less than a minute remaining and iced the game at the foul line. NSU shot 18-for-25 from the charity stripe, the first time the Sharks have shot over 70 percent in three games.

Teddy Tassy (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla.) did not post big numbers in the contest but came up big down the stretch, scoring seven points in the last three minutes of the game.

Gynes followed up his strong outing against Valdosta State by scoring 16 points on four field goals and seven free throws. Jacob Reed (Fr., Perth, Australia) played in his third game as a Shark and scored a career-high six points.

Lukas Roesch (So., Sugar Grove, Ohio) had an efficient outing, scoring 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting along with five boards.

The Sharks will return home this Friday, Dec. 17 to take on Northwestern Ohio at 8 p.m. in their first game of the Trip Sports Cruzin’ Classic.
