The first half was an exciting period in which both teams shot around 50 percent from the floor. Neither team could gain a major advantage in the first half until the Sharks hit a short shooting slump in which the Spartans gained a seven point advantage. The Sharks erased the deficit with five straight buckets, including three-pointers from Tassy and
Cody Dennison (So., Newark, Ohio). NSU entered the break down, 33-32.
With Gynes limited to eight minutes in the first half,

Tampa slowly took control of the second half and eventually built an eight point lead with less than six minutes in regulation.

Ross Allsop (Sr., Sydney, Australia) made one of the most dramatic blocks of his career, and his 101st, to send the game into overtime.
Unfortunately, the Sharks could not muster up enough offense in the overtime period to pull through with the victory. They shot 0-for-4 from the field in the period, including three attempts from beyond the arc. The Sharks were outscored 14-6 in the period and took their second home loss of the season.
