Swimming and Diving Takes on Rollins Saturday

The men’s and women’s teams are 1-0 all-time against the Tars.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern swimming and diving teams will welcome the Rollins Tars to the NSU Aquatic Complex at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, for its first meet in 20 days.

The Sharks dominated its previous meet Oct. 25 against Saint Leo, the men finished in first-place in seven of 10 events, en route to a 132-73 victory. The women’s team finished in first-place in eight of 10 events and won 131-73.

During the head-to-head meet, Cameron Pfahler (Jr., Neptune Beach, Fla.) was one of the many studs for the Sharks. In the 200-yard individual medley he clocked the top-time at 2:00.87 and in the 200-yard medley relay his team finished in third-place at 1:39.73.

Erin Black (Jr., Fort Myers, Fla.) put together a SSC Swimmer of the week performance against Saint Leo, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle with an NCAA “B” qualifying time of 10:34.18. Her mark set a new program record in the 1,000-free. She also finished second with a time of 1:03.04 in the 100-yard backstroke and she joined the 200-yard freestyle relay team to claim first-place at 1:44.04.

Leandra Lima stood out for the Tars during its previous meet against Saint Leo on Oct. 29. She won two events as the Tars fell to Saint Leo, 115-87. She collected victories in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.81 and in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:18.08.

The men also fell to the Lions, 135-68, despite a strong performance by Nate Burn in the 100-yard freestyle. He touched in 48.64 edging out the runner-up by less than a second (49.09). Burn also clocked a third-place time of 1:49.33 in the 200-free.

When the Tars and Sharks last met in the pool Nov. 6, 2010, the Sharks won on the men’s side, 129-66, and the women won, 118-84.
