FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern University men’s and women’s cross country teams’ NCAA championship berths are on the line this weekend Saturday, Nov., 5 where they will look to excel in the Division II South Regional event hosted by the University of Tampa at Dover Trails in Dover, Fla.
A total of 39 schools will be competing in the event as 18 men’s teams and 21 women’s teams will participate.
The Sharks are coming off a very solid weekend at the Sunshine State Conference Championships hosted by NSU. The women and men finished exceptionally well, claiming second and third overall, respectfully.
Three NSU runners, men’s
Kevin Meagher (Jr., Mansfield, Mass.) and
Omar Hernandez (So., Rio Pic, Ariz.) and women’s
Alexandria Palm (So., Winnebago, Ill.), have recently been selected to the SSC All-Conference teams and will be looking to make their mark in Dover in hopes of competing at nationals.
The top two men’s teams and the top two women’s teams will earn berths in the 2011 NCAA Cross Country National Championships. Additionally the top two individuals from non-qualifying teams and all individuals from the top five overall will advance. The national event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov., 19 in Spokane, Wash.
The women’s 6K will get underway in Dover at 8:00 a.m., with the men starting their 10K at approximately 9:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow the completion of competition at approximately 10:15 a.m.
