MATCH RESULTS
SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 31 Nova Southeastern University tennis team (3-0, 1-0 SSC) upset the No. 26 Saint Leo Lions Saturday, Feb. 19 for the 10th strait time, 6-3, after a strong showing in doubles play at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
NSU improved its doubles record to 9-0 after being led by the No. 3 doubles duo of
Paige Lindsley (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) and
Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.) who won their match, 8-3. The international doubles team of
Dominique Wimmer (Jr., Guntramsdorf, Austria) and
Oksana Krutiyenko (Sr., Nova Kahovka, Ukraine) defeated Kemkes and Daszkiewicz, 8-4 in the No. 1 spot. Doubles action was rounded out by a NSU win from
Justine Feaster (Carrollton, Texas) and
Kamryn Blackwood (Fr., Farmington, N.M.) in the No. 2 slot, 8-6.
“Our doubles matches put us in good position today,” head coach Michael Coleman said.
Heading into singles play with a, 3-0, cushion for the third straight time this season, Wimmer got things rolling for NSU by defeating Laan in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-3 . Lindsley defeated Daszkiewicz in a tie-break set, 11-9, after splitting the first two sets, 4-6, 6-4, for her third straight singles win of the season.
Blake Bauer (So., Miami, Fla.) rounded out the Sharks victory by winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The Lions Selma Hidass, Laura Kemkes, and Jeanette McDonald each won a singles match for Saint Leo.
“This was a tough, but good win for us today,” Coleman said.
NSU continues its two match conference road stretch tomorrow against the Tampa Spartans beginning at 11 a.m. in Tampa, Fla.
