FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (6-6) will play its first of a home and away season series against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (3-12) this Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla. The game will be broadcasted live on 640 Sports.

The Sharks are coming off a benchmark win against Florida Southern, 90-79, this past Saturday that broke a 10-game losing streak against the Mocs. The Sharks shot 65 percent from the floor, the program’s best mark in a Sunshine State Conference game. Teddy Tassy (Sr., Port-au-Prince, Haiti) had a career-high tying 24 points on 8-for-10 shooting. His effort, combined with his 19 points against Florida Tech, guided him to his second SSC Player of the Week honor this season.

With a .500 record, the Sharks will be looking to build momentum Wednesday against Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sharks have not won or lost two games in a row this year and are looking to start their first winning streak of the season. This will be no easy task as PBA has already taken down two SSC opponents this year.

“They [PBA] beat Lynn, they beat Barry, they out-played Northwood and they were tied at D-1 North Florida with four minutes to play a couple of weeks ago, so we know how good they are and what they are capable of doing,” said head coach Gary Tuell. “They have a 7-footer, a 6-10 and a 6-9 to go with an outstanding 6-7 forward. This is a big, talented and dangerous team that has our full attention.”

Palm Beach Atlantic, a school without a conference affiliation, has gone 2-6 against SSC teams. However, their losses have come to then nationally ranked Rollins twice, league-leading Florida Tech, and Eckerd, who dispatched the Sharks earlier this season. The Sailfish are led by Dante Valentine and Terrell Terry, who each average 13.5 points per game.

The Sharks will enter the game led in scoring by Robert Huntington (Sr., Perth, Australia) who is averaging 13.6 ppg. However, seven of the Sharks’ 12 active players have led the Sharks in scoring in a game this season. NSU is most successful when they the scoring load gets spread around. The Sharks are 6-0 when four or more Sharks score in double figures.
