FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (4-5-1, 3-3-0 SSC) defeated Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd (6-3-2, 3- 2-0, SSC) on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the NSU Soccer Complex.

The first goal of the match came in the 11th minute, when Tori Vives (Fr., Cooper City, Fla.) played a ball into the box to Malin Broberg (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden), who turned past a defender and was able to slot the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.

The Sharks were able to outshoot the Tritons, 15-3, in the opening stanza, as they dominated the flow of the match.

There were no real scoring opportunities for either team much of the second half until the 89th minute when Broberg was able to play a through ball to Sierra Lelii (So., Seminole, Fla.). The sophomore then dribbled into a one-on-one situation with the keeper and put the ball into the lower right corner of the goal.

The Tritons could not penetrate the Sharks’ defense all night, taking only one shot on goal resulting in an easy save for Amanda Kopale (Fr., Cape Coral, Fla.).

NSU outshot Eckerd, 21-5, on the evening.  Goalkeeper Morgan Crescent was able to keep the Tritons in the match by making seven saves, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Sharks from winning their third conference match of the season.

The Sharks will host rivals Barry on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m., at the NSU Soccer Complex.
