BOX SCORE
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team won its only exhibition game of the season Friday, defeating the Chilean National Team, 97-60.
The Sharks faced a tough fight in the first half but still entered the break with a 10-point lead. After the break, NSU pummeled the opposition, scoring more than double the road team in the second half, 53-26. After missing 11 3-pointers in the first half, the Sharks ran away with the game by shooting nearly 50 percent (6-for-13) from beyond the arc in the second period.
NSU went 12-deep against Chile, with all but two players earning double-digit minutes. With everyone getting a chance to impress the crowd,
Jacob Reed (Jr., Perth, Australia) shined the brightest with a game-high 17 point. He shot 4-for-7 from the floor and nailed all six of his free throw attempts, all while only logging 17 minutes.
Garrett Frick (So., Pacific Palisades, Calif.) joined Reed off the bench and was just shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-best nine boards.
Stian Berg (So., Baerum, Norway) made his NSU Arena debut alongside Frick and scored 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting.
Brian Cahill (So., Arlington, Va.) returned to the NSU Arena for the first time since 2010 and started alongside former All-SSC Freshman Team member
Lukas Roesch (Sr., Sugar Grove, Ohio). Cahill scored 11 points and notched three steals while Roesch scored 10 points and recorded five rebounds. Each dished out a team-best three assists.
Iran Hollis (Sr., Hollywood, Fla.) rounded out all Sharks in double-figures with 12 points and six rebounds.
The Sharks will begin the season on Nov. 15 at home against St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
