FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs will travel to Winter Park, Fla. Nov. 3 to take on conference foe Rollins at 1 p.m.
The Sharks dominated its previous meet Oct. 20 against Saint Leo. The men finished in first place in seven-of-10 events, en route to a 130-74 victory. The women’s team finished in first place in eight-of -10 events and won 159-46.
Erin Black (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) put together a SSC Swimmer of the Week performance against Saint Leo, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500-freestyle with NCAA “B” qualifying times of 10:27.88 and 5:01.84, respectively. She is ranked second in the Division-II national rankings. After winning both events, she then joined the 200-yard freestyle relay team to claim first place at 1:40.84.
Kimba Collymore (Sr.,St. James, Trinidad) was another Shark standout, as she also won two events in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:08.63 and 1:00.48,respectively. At the meet, her times in the 100-breastroke was good enough for 18th place in the D-II national rankings.
On the men’s side, Cameron Chambers (Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Oskar Nordstrand (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden) went back-to-back in their events with Nordstrand taking the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 9:47.54 and Chambers taking the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:46.17. Both men in their events were within one hundredth of a second apart from each other. In the 1,000-freestyle Nordstrand and Chambers had the 10th and 12th fastest times in NCAA D-II rankings.
When the Tars and Sharks last met in the pool Nov.5, 2011 the Sharks won on the men’s side, 132-64, and the women won, 131.5-64.5.
