No. 26 Tennis Travels to Orlando for Spring Break Tournament

The Sharks will play three dual matches over the three-day tournament

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 26 Nova Southeastern tennis team (5-2, 3-1 SSC) is set to participate in its first spring tournament, traveling to Orlando, Fla. The Sharks will play a total of three matches from March 6-8.

The Sharks take on two NCAA Division I schools on Tuesday and Wednesday, playing at 10 a.m. both days against Radford and Toledo, respectively. They continue on Thursday, playing against No. 24 Grand Valley State at 10 a.m.

This past weekend, the Sharks hosted NCAA Division I Georgetown. The Hoyas upset NSU, 7-2, holding the Sharks to only two doubles victories.

NSU has been led by freshman Alexandra Johansson (Sydney, Australia), who has already earned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors. In singles action she has a 4-2 record, only losing once in the No. 1 spot.

Radford
NSU met the Highlanders for the first time last year in the same tournament, losing 6-3. This will be the first dual match against a Division I opponent away from home for the Sharks this season. Radford enters the match after losing on the road, 4-3, against Charleston Southern.

Toledo
This will be the first meeting against the Rockets for NSU. Toledo has a 2-5 record and is coming into the tournament being shut out against Lousiville on the road, 7-0. 

Grand Valley State
A Division II opponent, the Lakers are currently ranked No. 24 in the nation and second in the Midwest region. This will also be the first meeting between the two teams. GVSU will enter the tournament coming off a lost to DePauw on the road, which brought them to a 2-2 record.
