FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern’s
Abbey Gittings (Jr., Tamworth, England), the No. 1 women’s golfer in NCAA Division-II, has been named Sunshine State Conference women’s golfer of the week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Gittings tied for second of 67 golfers at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Md. With her team as the lone D-II representative in the D-I-heavy tournament, Gittings fired a three-round score of 226 (75-78-73), just three strokes behind the medalist. Her efforts helped the Sharks tie for second in the 11-team field.
The Sharks will now look towards the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, held in Bradenton, Fla. from April 16-17.
