FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern swimming and diving teams will compete at the NSU Aquatic Center Jan. 19 to take on the nationally ranked teams of Florida Southern in their final dual meet before the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The No. 13 men come into this event (3-4) and the No. 15 women (3-5).
The Sharks will be looking at very strong competiton as the Moccasins women are No. 11 and the men No. 12 in the national rankings. The Moccasins women come into this weekend at (3-4) while the men stand at (5-1).
The Sharks competed in a tri-meet with Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky at the NSU Aquatic Center on Jan.11. On the men’s side, the Sharks beat Florida Atlantic for the first time in school history. The final score between the Sharks and FAU was 108-97. The Sharks lost to Western Kentucky, 112-98. For the women, the Sharks fell to FAU, 118-87; and lost to WKU, 166-39.
Previously this season, the Sharks competed against Florida Southern at the Shark Invitational held in December. Nova women finished first overall, while the men came in third. The Moccasins placed behind the Nova women and came in fourth place while the men defeated the Sharks and came in second to Tampa.
Last season the men’s and women’s swimming teams came out triumphant defeating Florida Southern. The women beat Florida Southern in a close match 105-100, while the men defeated the Moccasins 120-83.
This event marks the final meet of the regular season before the Sharks face off against Florida Southern and the rest of the SSC at the conference championship Feb. 13-16.
