Women’s Soccer Faces Palm Beach Atlantic in Non-Conference Battle

The Sharks will look to win its second match in as many games.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's soccer team (5-8-1, 1-5-1 SSC) travels up to West Palm, Beach, Fla. to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (4-6-1) on Saturday, Oct. 26, with kickoff set for 3 p.m.

The Sharks are coming off a big Sunshine State Conference win over the Eckerd Tritons, 2-1, in overtime on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Fla. The win marks their first conference victory for NSU of the season. Tori Vives (So., Cooper City, Fla.) scored the Sharks' first goal of the match after Eckerd took the early 1-0 lead. After 96 minutes of back-and-forth action through heavy rain, the Sharks prevailed in overtime on Dilja Olafsdottir s (Sr., Reykjavik, Iceland) first game-winning goal of the season. The Sharks, who now sit seventh in the conference, jumped two spots in the SSC standings with the win, and keep their postseason hopes alive with two SSC matches left to play.

The Sailfish enter Friday's contest facing their third SSC opponent in a row. PBA fell to the Lynn Fighting Knights last Saturday, Oct. 19, 3-1, in Boca Raton. The Sailfish then turned around four days later and fell to the Florida Tech Panthers, 3-0, at home. The Sailfish are currently 0-5 against SSC opponents this season, having played Barry, Saint Leo and Tampa earlier in the year. PBA has had a fairly balanced attack thus far, as seven players have scored for the team this season. Haily Johnson and Kierstyn Harrington have combined for 12 of PBA's 20 goals this year.

The Sharks will try to complete the SSC's sweep over PBA with a win on Saturday. History is on NSU's side as they have been victorious over the Sailfish in 20 of the 27 meetings between the teams.
