FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (12-9) took an 80-57 win over the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (1-21) Wednesday in the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.

Lukas Roesch (Sr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) led the way with an efficient 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting. He also notched four rebounds and two assists. Iran Hollis (Sr., Hollywood, Fla.) logged a double-double with 16 points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Brian Cahill (So., Arlington, Va.) collected a career-high tying seven assists.

The Sharks did not repeat their overtime scare against PBA from earlier in the season, but instead got out to an early lead they never gave up. NSU needed just over five minutes to create a 15-3 lead. PBA threw punches back, as Dante Valentine hit two straight 3-pointers, but the Sailfish were out of the game from the start. NSU would lead by as much as 15 points in the first half and enter the break up, 39-23.

The second half saw no swing in momentum, as NSU continued to pile on the points against their out-of-conference foe. Cahill took it right to the basket to start the period, earning an old fashioned 3-point play within the first six seconds of the period. NSU continued to build the lead, with the high point coming on a highlight play in which Justin Jeangerard  (So., Weaverville, Calif.) made a behind the back pass to Hollis, who threw down a dunk in transition. The dunk erupted the NSU Arena and gave the Sharks their biggest lead at 71-44. The Sharks eased off the gas from there, as PBA outscored NSU, 13-9, over the last six minutes.

NSU carried its efficient shooting from their loss against Florida Southern into Wednesday’s game. NSU shot 54 percent from the floor and 11-for-23 from 3-point range. The Sharks also won the offensive rebounding (8-4) and turnover (9-14) battles on the same night for the first time since their win over Benedict on Dec. 30, 2012.

Jeangerard ended his night with six points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Maurice Fuller (So., Westfield, Ind.) was NSU’s third-leading scorer with 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting. He also brought down four boards.

The Sharks had several scratch-offs from their usual bench rotation, but NSU never missed a beat. The Sharks’ bench combined to shoot 7-for-13 from the floor, led by Stian Berg (So., Baerum, Norway), who had eight points, five rebounds and two assists. Louie Schonauer (Sr., Lincoln, Ill.) and Brent Armitage (Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each scored six points. Schonauer also added four assists. Raj Prabhakar (Jr., Miami, Fla.) came off the bench to knock down his only shot attempt and grab a pair of rebounds.

The Sharks will return to conference play this Saturday against Tampa at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center at 4 p.m. The game will broadcast live on 640 Sports.
