FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (13-9, 5-7 SSC) completed a season sweep of the Tampa Spartans (16-9, 3-9 SSC), as the Sharks won at home Wednesday, 75-52.

Iran Hollis (Sr., Hollywood, Fla.) was the Sharks’ leader in points and rebounds, with 13 and seven, respectively. Hollis shot 4-for-7 from the floor. Justin Jeangerard (So., Weaverville, Calif.) recorded career-highs with seven assists and seven steals, one away from Jedd Soto’s 17-year old single-game record. He also had five rebounds in the contest. Maurice Fuller (So., Westfield, Ind.) had 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting.

The Sharks did not get off to a hot start, but took control of the game down the stretch of the first half. Tampa took the first multiple possession lead with 7:43 left, up 20-16. The deficit could have been worse, as Tampa missed five 3-pointers before going up by four points.

From there, the Sharks built a lead they would never give up. NSU went on a 13-0 run in less than three minutes of play. Brian Cahill (So., Arlington, Va.) scored five of his seven points during the game-changing run. Over the last five minutes of the first half, NSU outscored Tampa, 11-5, to take a 14-point lead at the break.

The Sharks never let up in the second half, as the Spartans could not lower the deficit to within single digits. The Spartans came within 11 points of NSU with 18:25 left, but NSU responded with a 10-4 run, sparked by a breakaway layup by Jeangerard.

The Sharks found themselves up by 18 points with 4:25 left, but never let of the gas. Raj Prabhakar (Jr., Miami, Fla.) and Louie Schonauer (Sr., Lincoln, Ill.) combined to score the Sharks’ last nine points, shooting 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.

On the day, the Sharks shot 49 percent from the floor and went 10-for-21 from 3-point range. The Spartans shot 34 percent from the floor and committed 15 turnovers.

Stian Berg (So., Baerum, Norway) and Sean Mullan (Sr., Mangerton, Australia) each scored 11 points off the bench and combined to shoot 7-for-11 from the floor. Lukas Roesch (Sr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) scored eight points and brought down five rebounds.

The Sharks will continue their four-game home stand this Wednesday against Rollins at 7:30 p.m. The game will broadcast live on 640 Sports.
