FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (13-10, 5-8 SSC) will play its final home game of the season Saturday, as the Sharks host the Lynn Fighting Knights (11-13, 3-11 SSC) at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center at 4 p.m. the game will broadcast live on 640 Sports.

Prior to the game, five players will be honored before their final home game with Nova Southeastern. The group is made up of: Iran Hollis (Sr., Hollywood, Fla.), Sean Mullan (Sr., Mangerton, Australia), Raj Prabhakar (Jr., Miami, Fla.), Lukas Roesch (Sr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) and Louie Schonauer (Sr., Lincoln, Ill.).

After the festivities, the Sharks will play in a crucial game. After holding onto fifth place in the conference for month, Florida Tech moved ahead of NSU after the Sharks lost to Rollins Wednesday, 56-48. NSU is a game behind the Panthers, who the Sharks will play on Wednesday on the road. The Sharks will need a win to compete down the stretch, as they end the season with the Florida Tech matchup and a game at Barry on the Buccaneers’ senior night.

The season will wrap up with the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Championship in Kissimmee, Fla. Although every team will make the tournament, the Sharks’ seed will play a crucial role in their chances of winning the title and earning an automatic bid into the NCAA South Region Tournament. As it stands now, the Sharks would have to play Rollins in the first round, just 40 minutes away from the Tars’ campus.

On the other hand, the Sharks could use a marquee win to strengthen their case for an at-large bid to the postseason. NSU is currently ranked ninth in the initial South Region poll, but that ranking was made prior to the team’s latest loss. In order to push themselves into the top-eight, in range of an at-large selection, the Sharks will need to make a run down the stretch of the regular season and defeat one of the region’s top teams in the SSC Tournament.

Earlier this season, the Sharks played Lynn on the road and defeated the Knights, 66-63. Brian Cahill (So., Arlington, Va.) had a solid night, leading the Sharks in scoring for the fourth time in five games. Cahill had 16 points and six rebounds against Lynn. He shot 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Hollis had a game-best eight rebounds and 13 points. Roesch had 10 points and a career-high five assists.

Fans can listen to the game live on 640 Sports. The game will also be available via live video HERE live stats HERE. Follow the Sharks on Twitter at www.Twitter.com/NSUSharks.
