FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern track and field team are set to compete at the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The championship begins Thursday, May 23 and ends Saturday, May 25 at Colorado State in Pueblo, Colo.
The women's side has two entries to go along with the one male qualifier. On the women's side, Jessica Osteen (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) headlines the NSU squad as the only Shark with an automatic qualifying time and has the eighth-best overall time 59.86 in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The prelim for her event begins at 7:40 p.m. on May 23 and finishes with the finals on May 25, at 7:20 p.m.
Also qualifying is the women's 4x100-meter relay team. The team is comprised of Osteen, Johniqua Stafford (Sr., Fort Worth, Texas), Nicole Poole (Fr., Atlamonte Springs, Fla.) and Ciona Williams (Fr., Stockton, Ca.). The team enters ninth overall, with a qualifying time of 46.10. The prelim for the event begins at 4:50 p.m. on May 23, with the finals taking place May 25, at 5:10 p.m.
On the men's side, Talyn Washington (So., Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) is the lone qualifier for the Sharks. Washington provisionally qualified for the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47:12. The men's 400-meter prelim begins May 23, at 5:55 p.m., with the finals set for 6:25 p.m. on May 25.
The first race will start at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday May 23 which will be the women's 4x100-meter relay and the championships will continue until Saturday May 25. Check back at nsusharks.com for live results.
