DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Men's and Women's Track teams were back in action on back-to-back days in northern Florida at the Pepsi Relays hosted by the University of Florida and the Embry-Riddle Running Events Classic.
Continuing a season of greatness, Marcus Tortorella beat his own school record in the 5K setting a time of 14:46.86 finishing in second place in Gainesville.
NSU's distance runners continued to impress in "The Swamp" with
Jaime Blazquez setting a new second-best time in program history in the men's 1500m with a 3:52.49.
Isabella Grant set a new fourth-best time in program history in the women's 5K with a mark of 17:46.26.
With the distance runners in Gainesville on Friday, it left the Shark sprinters to compete in Daytona Beach at the Embry-Riddle Running Events Classic where
Sativa James continued to reign terror on her competition in the women's 400m.
James finished first in the event setting the third-best time in the distance in program history cracking the 56 second barrier finishing the race in 55.83.
Doubling the distance to the women's 800m,
Bella Butler clocked the third-best time in the event with a 2:13.91, finishing fourth in the final heat.
The Sharks are back in action for another busy weekend on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11. Friday the Sharks head up to the Volunteer State for the Lee University Fast Break Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. Saturday will have NSU much closer to home, competing at the University of Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational.
