Kierberg Finishes Run at ITA Regionals

Kierberg wins quarterfinal match before tough out in the semis.

PENSACOLA, Fla.– Nova Southeastern tennis player Sabrina Kierberg (So., Munich, Germany) finished a successful weekend at the ITA South Region Championship, advancing to the backdraw semifinals after becoming the last Shark standing.

Kierberg started the day against Marleen Gort of Alabama-Huntsville in the consolation quarterfinals. The Sharks' ace last spring continued to roll and won, 6-2, 6-3. It was her fourth win over a three day period.

Kierberg moved on to face Rollins' Elissa DeCampli, a fellow No. 1 player in the Sunshine State Conference last spring. Kierberg fought hard in a close first set, losing 6-4, before NSU's weekend ended with a second-set loss, 6-2.

The Sharks will finish the fall calendar in the Rollins' hosted C.L. Varner Invitational in Winter Park, Fla., beginning on Oct. 4.
