FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Freshman
Thiago Sickert (Vila Velha, Brazil) has earned the first Sunshine State Conference Male Swimmer of the Week honor of the 2014-15 season.
In his first meet as a Shark, Sickert provisionally qualified for nationals in an impressive five events. Sickert placed second the A-Final of the men's 50-yard freestyle with a NCAA National's B qualifying time of 20.46. Continuing his success, he placed second in the A-Final of the 100-yard butterfly with a NCAA National's B qualifying time of 48.23 and third in the 100-yard backstroke A-Final with an impressive NCAA National's B qualifying time of 50.25.
Sickert wasn't done there, as he recorded a third-place finish in the A-Final of the 100-yard free with a NCAA National's B qualifying time of 44.98. He closed his meet with a 200-yard free NCAA National's B qualifying time of 1:39.38.
Sickert currently sits atop Division II in the 100- free as well as the 50-free. His 200- free time and 100- fly time place him in second overall in DII. Sickert's 100- back time is the sixth best in DII.
