FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to Fort Pierce, Florida this Saturday to take on the Indian River State College Pioneers, marking the fifth annual November meeting between the two teams.
In last years dual,
Marco Aldabe (So., Alicante, Spain) highlighted the meet for the Sharks, as he swam a NCAA B-Standard time of 4:04.87 in the 400-yard individual medley.
Andrew Pittman (So., Plano, Texas) and
Shane Kleinbeck (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) also secured wins over the Pioneers in the 1,650-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, respectively.
The Sharks will look to build on their outstanding start to the season that features 30 times ranked in the top 10 of their respective event in Division II, including 16 times in the top five. Sophomore standout,
Thiago Sickert (Vila Velha, Brazil), currently holds the top time in DII in the 50-yard free as well as the 100- free. Sickert, Kleinbeck, Aldabe, and
Magnus Lundgren (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden) also sit atop DII in the 800-yard free relay.
Indian River will look to rebound from last weekend, as its women lost to Florida International University and the men to Texas A&M University. The Pioneers will rely on Barbara Caraballo to go up against the Sharks'
Bryndis Hansen (So., Akureyi, Iceland) in the 50- free, which will be one of the marquee races of the day.
The stage is set for an exciting meet that will start at 1 p.m. at the Indian River State College Swimming Pool.
