FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 15 Nova Southeastern tennis team (10-3) returns home to face two teams outside of NCAA Division II this weekend. The Sharks will take on DI Nebraska-Omaha (3-6) on Friday at 3 p.m. and the third-ranked DIII team in the nation, Emory (12-0), Saturday at 10 a.m.
NSU is currently on an eight-match winning streak that dates back to Feb. 26. Their latest win at Webber International, 9-0, pushes the Sharks to 10 wins at their fastest rate since 2008. They have also tied their longest winning streak since then. NSU is only four wins away from reaching the program's longest winning streak. The victory marked the fourth sweep in the Sharks' last five matches, with the outlier coming at 8-1.
In order to maintain their perfect pace, the Sharks will have to get past two tough opponents. Nebraska-Omaha started the season rough, but has won two straight games, each by the score of 7-0. NSU has only faced one DI opponent this year and will look to make up for a loss to Bethune-Cookman, 6-3.
Although the Sharks will face a DIII opponent Saturday, the competition may be a step up. Emory is undefeated on the season and ranked third in DIII. They are traveling to South Florida to face three nationally ranked squads in the Sharks, No. 3 Barry and No. 6 Lynn in a three-day span.
The weekend also marks the final chance for home fans to come out and support their Sharks. NSU has seven more regular season matches scheduled after Saturday, all on the road.
