RESULTS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
The No 15 Nova Southeastern tennis team (11-4) ended its nine-match winning streak Saturday with a loss to Emory (13-2), 6-3, at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Sharks played a tough squad that ranks third in the national NCAA Division III rankings and defeated No. 5 Columbus State earlier in the year, 5-4. The loss ended the Sharks longest winning streak since 2008.

The day started off in doubles where NSU went 1-2. The win came in the third flight from the duo of Linda Kornienko (So., Fort Myers, Fla.) and Juliet Serabian (So., Plantation, Fla.). The sophomores defeated Michelle Satterfield and Brenna Kelly, 9-7. In the top flight, Alex Kaeser (Fr., Woodstock, Ga.) and Sabrina Kierberg (So., Berlin, Germany) fell to Gabriella Clark and Katarina Su, 8-3. In the second draw, Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia) and Carlee Rizzolo (So., Livingston, N.J.) lost to Beatrice Rosen and Madison Gordon, 8-5.

NSU picked up a pair of wins in singles play in the fourth and sixth draws. In the fourth, Serabian picked up her second win of the day over Gordon, 6-4, 6-4. In the final flight, Bianca Roberts (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) gutted out a three-set victory over Kelly, 6-7, 6-3, 10-2.

"Today was a great match for us as we prepare for next weekend's three regional matches in Pensacola," said head coach Stephen Schram. "Our team competed well against a team that also defeated the fifth ranked Division II school just a few weeks ago. Bianca and Juliet played extremely well and came up with some big wins."

NSU fell in the top flight of singles action, with Johansson falling to Clark, 6-1, 6-0. Kierberg's undefeated mark of 13-0 came to an end Saturday, as the sophomore lost to Rosen, 6-3, 6-2. Satterfield kept the match rolling for Emory, defeating NSU's Rizzolo, 6-3, 6-1. Wrapping up singles play was Kornienko, who fell to Su, 6-2, 6-0.

NSU will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for three matches against Gulf South Conference schools, beginning with a match against Delta State at 9 a.m. on March 28.
