Swimming and Diving Builds on Impressive 2014 Recruiting Class

NSU rounds out class with five more additions.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving program has added five additional student-athletes to the 2014 recruiting class.

The female additions begin with Georgina Allin, a Somerset, England native that is transferring out from junior college powerhouse Indian River State College. There, Allin claimed second place at the NJCAA Championship in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM. She also claimed third in the 200-yard freestyle. Allin has also competed in the 100-yard free while attending Indian River. Lauren Alfino will begin her collegiate career after swimming at Mountain Vista HS in Denver, Colorado and for the Denver Hilltoppers swim club. This past season, Alfino qualified for the 2014 Western Speedo Champions Series. The distance freestyle swimmer will compete in events ranging from the 200- free to the mile race.

The third addition on the women's side is Malin Westman from Harryda Sweden. Westman had a highly decorated career with the club Molndals Allmanna Simsallskap. Among her accolades were appearances with the Swedish Youth National Team from 2008-2009. While with them, she competed at the Nordic Youth Nationals and the European Youth Olympic Festival. From there, she would go on to become a finalist in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Swedish Junior National Championship from 2010-12. She also competed at the 2010 and 2011 European Junior Championship.

The men's team also added two more swimmers, starting with a transfer from Wingate and a Viken, Sweden native, Niklas Andersson. In 2014, Andersson swam at the BMC Swimming Championship and was a finalist in the 200-yard butterfly and a B finalist in the 100-yard fly. He is also prepared to compete in both the 50 and 100-yard free events.

The entire recruiting class concludes with Allin's Indian River teammate, Michael Ragan. From Dacula, Georgia, Ragan brings a championship pedigree to the NSU program. This past year he brought Indian River four NJCAA National Championships in the 4x200 free relay, 4x50 free relay, 4x50 medley relay and 4x100 free relay events. Individually, Ragan took second in both the 200-yard free (1:39.10) and 100 free (45.29), while claiming third place in the 50-yard free (20.78).
