Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Palm Beach Atlantic

The Sharks' return home falls just short.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Upon their return to the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center, the Nova Southeastern University volleyball team (10-3) fell to the visiting Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (10-2) in three straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-14 on Tuesday night.

Facing the No. 17 team in the AVCA top-25 national poll, the Sharks began the first set going point-for-point with PBA through the first 12 points. The Sailfish then took a 7-6 lead and never trailed again to take an early 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second set, NSU kept the score close and led 15-14 over halfway through the second frame. But PBA dominated the net accumulating four blocks and outscored the Sharks 9-2 down the stretch to take the second set 25-17 and a 2-0 match lead.

NSU struggled to gain momentum heading into the final set and despite solid effort, the Sailfish erupted offensively to end the match. PBA recorded 20 kills in the frame and hit a blistering .447 as a team for a 25-14 win over the Sharks.

NSU's Dana Holger (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) was the only Shark to record double-digit kills finishing with 11 total. Katie Pyles (Jr., Denver, Colo.) finished with her fourth double-double of the season with 20 assists and 10 digs, while Kaelyn Brock (So., La Quinta, Calif.) and Megan Burns (Fr., Sylvania, Ohio) added 12 and 11 digs respectively.

The Sharks will return home on Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. hosting Rollins College at the NSU Arena. It will also be "Think Pink" night where NSU will be honoring cancer survivors, warriors and their families for Cancer Awareness month.
