FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team looks to build momentum on an undefeated road trip as they return to the NSU Soccer Complex for their first two home matches of the season this week, the first scheduled for Tuesday night.
The Sharks defeated a pair of teams in North Carolina, Catawba (3-2) and Pfeiffer (5-2), behind game-winning goals in each match by
Sierra Lelii (R-Sr., Seminole, Fla.). She had four goals in all to thus far lead all Sunshine State Conference players, men's or women's.
Also pouring in scores during the weekend were
Carley Montgomery (So., Sanford, Fla.) on Friday, and
Tori Vives (Sr., Cooper City, Fla.) with two and
Cydney Niedermeyer (Jr., Fort Myers, Fla.) with her first on Sunday. Sophomore goalkeeper
Jordan Lentz (Fort Myers, Fla.) earned the victory in both matches in goal.
First up for the Sharks this week is a matchup with Florida Memorial on Tuesday night, at 7 p.m. The two teams met up last season, which saw five Sharks get into the scoring column in a 8-0 win, led by two each from Lelii,
Julia Nytorp (Sr., Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) and
Enfiniti Stephens (So., Burleson, Texas). All-time, NSU is 3-0 against the Lions in the series.
Rounding out the week is a Friday night matchup, also at 7, against North Alabama. The two teams have played four times all-time, with the Sharks winning three of the four. The last time they battled was Sept. 13, 2013, at a neutral site in Columbus, Ga, which saw NSU take a 3-0 victory.
If the Sharks can post two wins this week, it would be their first 4-0 start since 2011.
