FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – For the first of two meetings this season, Nova Southeastern (4-7) will close out the 2016 calendar year when it welcomes Sunshine State Conference provisional member Embry-Riddle (7-4) to NSU Arena Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Sharks have been away from competition since suffering an 84-79 defeat to Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on December 19 at the Florida Tech Winter Classic. Head coach
Gary Tuell's club rallied from an 11-point deficit at the intermission to draw even early in the second half, but couldn't fend off the Gallitos down the stretch after missing four straight field goals in the final minute of regulation.
Harrison Goodrick recorded his fourth consecutive double-double in the loss, finishing with 30 points and 11 rebounds, before eventually capturing SSC Player of the Week honors.
Nikita Orap added 16 points in his first career start, while
Troy Spears chipped in with 10 to round out the double-figure efforts for the Sharks. Following the impressive performance, Goodrick now ranks as the only player in the league to currently average 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds per game.
Embry-Riddle has won three straight ball games since losing consecutive contests to Saint Leo and Tampa, averaging 86.7 points during that span. The Eagles' latest victory, an 80-73 triumph over Central Bayamon (Puerto Rico) helped cap a perfect holiday break after also knocking off American (Puerto Rico) back on December 16.
Guard Skylar Hogan leads five Eagles averaging double-figure scoring with 17.7 per game to go along with 14.5 points from Dalton Barnes and 12.6 points from former University of Florida transfer Dillon Graham.
David Halberstam will have the call live from NSU Arena. For complete coverage of the action, log onto
