FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's soccer team will open their 2016 season with two home matches this weekend, hosting Webber International on Thursday and Catawba on Saturday. Both matches are slated to begin at 7:00 pm at the NSU Soccer Complex.
The Sharks bring back just three players from the 2015 squad, goalkeeper
Jordan Lentz, and midfielders
Bailey Corbin and
Sydney Franko. Head coach
John Constable, entering his second year at the helm, welcomes 30 newcomers to the team.
After a busy and successful preseason, Constable looks forward to the upcoming season.
"We are happy with how things are shaping up," Constable explained. "Our new players are settling well and our returners have been helping with this process. We are excited to kick off the season with our young, but talented group. Although we have an inexperienced team at the college level, there is no doubt we have potential. I am excited to see where this potential combined with hard and smart work over the course of the season takes us. It promises to be a fun and exciting year."
In their last meeting in 2015, NSU rolled past the WIU Warriors, 5-2, and Lentz was awarded her fifth win of the season. In the 2016 Sun Conference preseason poll, Webber was selected to finish sixth overall.
Catawba was also one of NSU's opening opponents in 2015, when the Sharks edged the Indians, 3-2. A member of the South Atlantic Conference, Catawba was picked to finish 10
th overall in 2016.
