FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Scoring chances were a plenty for Nova Southeastern in Saturday's clash with 21
st-ranked Tampa. Unfortunately for the Sharks, the opportunities didn't translate into goals as head coach
Matt Watt's club was edged by the Spartans 1-0 at home.
"I thought we performed well tonight," said Watts. "At the moment, the ball just isn't going into the back of the net for us. We need a little bit more quality in the final third."
Tampa leading scorer Fredinho Mompremier capitalized on a penalty kick in just the 10
th minute of the match, but his sixth goal of the season ultimately proved to be the difference.
Outside of Mompremier's score, though, much of the match belonged in favor of the Sharks. Now 0-2 in the Sunshine State Conference, and 2-4 overall, Nova Southeastern outnumbered Tampa by a whopping 12-1 margin in corner kicks, while tallying 16 shots to the Spartans' six on the night.
The contest hung in the balance literally up until the final whistle sounded as NSU earned its final corner kick in the waning moments. However, a last-second header sailed wide, allowing the Tampa faithful in the crowd to exhale in relief.
Sharks keeper
Nico Rosiglioni provided yet another sound effort in the net, securing three saves in the defeat and has now limited NSU's previous three opponents to only two goals altogether.
The Sharks will return to the pitch next Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on the road at Embry-Riddle. For complete coverage of the action, visit
