FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After weather cancelled the NSU women's soccer match against Catawba on Saturday evening, the Sharks are eager and ready to hit the pitch again, hosting back-to-back matches.
On Tuesday evening, NSU will host fellow Sunshine State Conference member Palm Beach Atlantic, before taking on the Lions of Florida Memorial University on Wednesday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm at the NSU Soccer Complex.
Currently, the Sharks hold the advantage in the all-time series against PBA, with a 22-7-1 overall record. In their last meeting in 2015, the Sharks edged PBA, 2-1, with a quick game-winning goal in overtime. Just 2:41 into additional time, on the Sharks' third corner in a span of 1:38,
Samantha Gestido booted it into the box, where it eventually found
Sierra Lelii. She headed it in on a bounce for the golden goal.
The Sailfish stand at an even 1-1 overall record, recently falling to Pace University, 3-1. The Setters scored three unanswered goals in the final 60 minutes of the game despite being outshot by PBA, 13-10.
Against Florida Memorial, the Sharks have yet to drop a match to the Lions, edging them with a 4-0 all-time record. In 2015, NSU dismantled FMU with a 5-0 victory. NSU outshot their southern counterparts 38-11 in total, 19 in each period. They had five corner kicks to FMU's one.
