FORT LAUDERDALE – Coming off a two week rest since their last competition, the Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming team are looking forward to closing out their regular season schedule this week. On Friday, both the men's and women's teams will face Keiser at 2 pm in West Palm Beach, Fla., while the women will finish their regular season on Saturday at Miami starting at 12 noon.
Friday's meet at Keiser will be held at the Lake Lytal Aquatic Center with a 2 pm start time. The Seahawks will have their hands full against the highly touted Sharks. The NSU men remain the No. 2 Division II men's team in the country and are undefeated at 6-0 in dual meets this season, while the women are still No. 3 and 7-1 on the year. The Shark women's only loss was suffered against Division I FIU.
The next day, the Sharks women will travel south to Coral Gables to face Division I foe, University of Miami. This will not be the first meeting between the two, since the Hurricanes participated in the Shark Invitational to launch the 2016-17 season back in September. The Canes finished two spots ahead of NSU in that meet by a margin of 127 points.
Emma Wahlstrom remains as one of the top NSU swimmers to be on the lookout. In the most recent CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week selection, Wahlstrom emerged as the Division II female winner following the Sharks' meet against Florida Southern on Jan. 14.
This weekend will be the last of the regular season for the Sharks as they will begin immediately preparing for the Sunshine State Conference Championships Feb. 16-19 and then await NCAA selections for the Division II Championships later in March.
