FORT LAUDERDALE – Now that the winter break has come and gone, the Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming teams are geared up and ready for their next home meet this Wednesday, Jan 4 when they host UIndy and Rollins at the NSU Aquatic Center at 2 p.m.
Both the NSU men's and women's teams have held high marks in the CSCAA Division II top 25 polls all season and this week is no different. At last ranking just before the winter break, the NSU men are currently No. 2, while the women's team moved up one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 heading into this weeks' tri-meet against UIndy and Rollins. Both UIndy's men's and women's teams will come into Wednesday's matchup ranked No. 13 and 16 respectively.
The last time out for the Sharks women, the team faced a field of six at the 2016 Spartan Invitational in Clearwater and won the event with 1,103 total points.
Emma Wahlstrom led the Sharks women. Throughout the meet, she participated in 10 events, nine of which resulted in wins and one second-place finish. She also set automatic qualifying times in the 200 and 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke events. She went on to provisionally qualify in her remaining seven events, while also setting five new school records in the 500 free, 400 medley relay, 200 free, 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay. She was also selected as the Sunshine State Conference Female Swimmer of the Week for her efforts during the weekend event.

The Sharks' No. 2 men's team also competed in at the 2016 Spartan Invite finishing third overall. Despite a third-place finish, several individuals posted top performances including Fraco Lupoli. The young Venezuelan swam a total of seven events. Of those seven, the junior automatically qualified for NCAA postseason and set new school records in both the 500 and 1,650 freestyle events. He also provisionally qualified in the 1,000 and 200 freestyle as well as the 800 freestyle relay.
