HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Florida Southern set the tone from the opening whistle, and was able to strike in the third minute when Christoph Gums found the back of the net from 25 yards out for his team-leading fourth goal this season.
  • The Sharks best chance at an equalizer came in the 32nd minute on a shot attempt by Arns Carrenard. However, the near-score was cleared off the goalline by a Florida Southern defender and out of danger.
  • Nova Southeastern remained within striking distance following a spectacular kick save by keeper Jack Howard in the 53rd minute. Howard would have no answer, though, for the Mocs' attack just moments later after Gums linked up with Hinrik Atli Smarason to make the score 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
  • Unable to stop the bleeding, the Sharks yielded another goal in the ensuing two minutes, this time to Dani Morillo, as Florida Southern pulled comfortably ahead for the eventual victory.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Saturday's shutout marked the second of the season for the Sharks.

STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • Nova Southeastern was outshot by Florida Southern 19-12 in the effort, but finished even with the Mocs in the second half as both teams tallied eight shots apiece.
  • After recording nine saves in Wednesday's win, Howard added eight more to his credit against Florida Southern.
