MELBOURNE, Fla. – Following two more stat-stuffing performances in wins over Caldwell and Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern point guard
David Dennis has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon. The offensive honor is the first this season for Dennis, and second overall after taking home the SSC Defensive Player of the Week award just two weeks ago.
Dennis continued his early-season tear by posting averages of 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game as the Sharks set the new program mark with a perfect 6-0 start. In Monday's victory over Caldwell, the junior finished only rebound shy of a triple-double, while adding four steals and a pair of blocks. Dennis then registered a game-high 23 points and eight assists in Nova Southeastern's overtime triumph at home against Florida Southern. Despite battling foul trouble, he poured in 13 of his 23 after halftime to keep the Sharks undefeated. With six victories under their belt, the Sharks have already matched their win total from the entire 2016-17 season.
Dennis currently ranks among the Top-10 in the SSC in: scoring (17.3 ppg), field goal percentage (49.4%), assists (7.7 apg) and steals (3.8 spg).
NSU will continue SSC play this Saturday at 4 p.m. ET when it welcomes Florida Tech to the Rick Case Arena. For complete coverage of the action, follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_MBasketball or visit the
