Tyler-Palmer Captures All-America Honors

First All-America recognition for volleyball program since 2009

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  – Denvyr Tyler-Palmer continues to collect honors for her outstanding 2017 campaign, grabbing both AVCA and D2CCA All-America awards. The junior outside hitter was named to both honorable-mention teams, becoming the first Shark to bring home All-American recognition since Valentina Petrova and Carly Perschnick in 2009.

"To be included as an All-American is truly the height of recognition for our sport," explained head coach Jennifer King. "We are so lucky to have Denvyr in the Shark family, and even luckier to have one more season with her as our leader."

In addition to her SSC postseason honors for the past three seasons, Tyler-Palmer grabbed her first all-region nods a week ago. The Jacksonville, Fla. native was named to the AVCA All-South Region Team and the D2CCA All-South Region First Team, leading not only Nova Southeastern with her 4.99 kills-per-set average, but the conference as a whole. This number also put her in the top spot in the NSU record books for kills per set in an individual season.

Kills per set isn't the only category that she inked her name in during 2017, as her 484 kills ranks her second place all-time. For her career, she has accumulated 1,248 total kills, putting her at No. 3 all-time, with a year left to go.

Tyler-Palmer collected 11 double-doubles on the season, and hit a season-high 32 kills against Tusculum on Sept. 2.
