FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – With officially just one week left in the regular season, Nova Southeastern will look to cap the year on a high note, beginning with a trip to Embry-Riddle Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
While the Sharks' offense has experienced its share of struggles in the recent weeks, one of the Sunshine State Conference's more effective defenses has maintained its strong level of play. After Nova Southeastern held Florida Tech over 11 points below its season average on February 4, head coach
Gary Tuell's club limited Rollins' starting lineup to 6-of-26 shooting before forcing Eckerd to convert just 35.4 percent from the floor this past Saturday.
The Sharks will again need such effort heading into Wednesday's meeting with Embry-Riddle, a team that enters fresh off a 100-point performance despite losing to Florida Southern over the weekend. The Eagles currently average 87.4 points, which would ranked second among SSC members, and have now reached the 100-point mark on five separate occasions this season.
Five players scored in double-figures in the recent setback at Florida Southern, led by Shaquan McArthur's 20 points and nine rebounds. Dillon Graham added 19 points, while Skylar Hogan and Luka Majstorovic combined for 32 points. Furthermore, do-it-all point guard Dalton Barnes collected 10 points, seven assists, five rebounds and five steals.
Barnes has posted 15.4 points, 7.0 assists and 5.2 boards per game as a senior, notching a double-double in the Eagles' first meeting with the Sharks back on December 30.
Despite 15 points and 14 rebounds from
Harrison Goodrick and a 10-point lead with 12:26 to play, NSU fell 60-57 in its previous trip to Daytona Beach, Florida a year ago.
David Halberstam will have the call live from the ICI Center. For complete coverage of the action, log onto
