HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Florida Southern wasted no time taking the lead in the first set as the tallied seven unanswered points for a 7-1 advantage. At 17-7, the Sharks used a 4-1 run sparked by a kill by
Maya Patterson to come within seven at 18-11. That would be the closest they would get the remainder of the set, however as the Mocs went on to take set one, 25-15.
SET 2 | Down 11-9, the Sharks used a 4-1 run capped with a kill by
Maddie Uilk to take the lead 13-12. NSU was able to hold onto its lead until at 18-16, FSC put up four straight points to steal the lead at 20-18 and force the Sharks to call for a timeout. Returning to the court, a kill by
Sydney Lemon brought the deficit back to one, before the Mocs went on a 5-1 run to end the game on top, 25-20.
SET 3 | Unlike the first two sets, it was the Sharks that grabbed an early advantage, going up as many as four points at 7-3 with an ace by
Megan Burns. Up 10-6, the Moccasins went on a 5-1 run to knot the game at 11-11. A kill by Lemon and another ace by Burns pushed the Sharks out in front, 15-13. The set saw six more ties before at 23-23 FSC finished it with two straight points for the 25-23 win.
